Your Taruchi will fight for you until they become Marked by winning the Festival of Consecration, or die. They are helped by their traits, affinities, how you train them, and their Battle Specs.

#### Stats

Taruchi have the following base stats:

* 50 HP
* 5 Violence
* 5 Power
* 5 Harmony

These stats are modified by the Taruchi's individual traits, and can be improved through training at the Gym.

#### Traits

Each Taruchi has five traits:

* **Body:** Grants stats and has a type — Normal, Metal, Stone, Wood, or Elemental.
* **Eye:** Grants stats.
* **Mouth:** Grants stats.
* **Flower:** Grants stats when your Taruchi survives Festivals - something to look forward to in the full release!
* **Equipment:** Grants stats.

There are four tiers of rarity. Common, Rare, Epic, and Legendary. Higher rarities have greater stat boosts.

#### Affinities

The Taruchi's type determines advantage in matchups in a rock-paper-scissor triangle. Metal beats Stone, which beats Wood, which beats Metal. Normal is strong versus Elemental and neutral against all other types, whereas Elemental has a slight advantage against the first three types.

#### States

Your Taruchi is always in one state: Idle, Enrolled, Marked, or Dead.

* **Idle:** the Taruchi can train, fight AI, enroll in battles, or be rerolled.
* **Enrolled:** waiting for a tournament bracket to fill. Can't do anything else.
* **Marked:** survived the Festival of Consecration. Congratulations!
* **Dead:** died in a Festival or was rerolled.
