# Taruchi

Your Taruchi will fight for you until they Ascend, or until they die. They are helped by their traits, affinities, how you train them, and their Battle Specs.

### Stats

Taruchi have the following base stats:

* 50 HP
* 5 Violence
* 5 Power
* 5 Harmony

These stats are modified by the Taruchi's individual traits, and can be improved through training at the Gym.

### Traits

Each Taruchi has five traits; the **Body, Eye, Mouth, Equipment,** and **Flower.**

Each trait increases the Taruchi's base stats. The Body type also sets the Taruchi's Affinity type, which determines when they're strong or weak against other Taruchi!

The Flower will always start off blank. For more details on this, see Flowering below.

There are four tiers of rarity. Common, Rare, Epic, and Legendary. Higher rarities have greater stat boosts, but of course are less common.

While we do not show trait rarities in this documentation, player-run trait listings will likely be created soon after release.

### Affinities

Your Taruchi's Body sets its affinity: Normal, Metal, Stone, Wood, or Elemental. Metal beats Stone, which beats Wood, which beats Metal. Normal is neutral against everything but a hard counter to Elemental, and Elemental has a slight edge against Metal, Stone, and Wood while being weak into Normal. Affinity is a small multiplier on top of the stat math, not a substitute for it.

### Flowering

A Taruchi's flower trait will always start off empty. In order for a Taruchi to **Bud** and then **Flower**, they must survive festivals.

When your Taruchi survive their first festival, they'll grow a Bud, which will increase their base stats! This bud is determined randomly.

When they survive their second festival, that Bud will become a Flower, which provides even higher base stats! Some flowers are very powerful. The Flower you receive is random, but a different list of Flowers can grow from each Bud.

In other words, you won't know a Taruchi's final design unless it survives into the final leagues...

*Note: There is one Bud that will remain a Bud forever, and never become a Flower. That said, it has very good stats for a Bud. It provides an advantage in Stage 2, but less so in Stage 3....*
